WSRCC Legislative Advocacy

Adult Family Homes are heavily regulated and face constant threats of new laws, increased fees and decreased reimbursements from those who might not understand fully the day to day challenges you face running your business and caring for elderly and vulnerable adults.

During each legislative session, the WSRCC hosts citizen lobbying events and sends WSRCC members to the state capitol to meet and educate their legislators on your business and the people you care for. To help educate lawmakers on the issues that affect YOU, we want to connect you to WSRCC’s: Legislative Advocacy Program

Our Objective: recruit WSRCC members in every legislative district throughout the state, who would volunteer to meet and educate their legislators on the issues that impact Adult Family Homes. By building these personal relationships between providers and legislators during the interim, WSRCC members can play a key role in WSRCC’s effort to advocate on the issues that impact YOUR business and strengthen WSRCC’s advocacy efforts.

Meetings could consist of spending a half an hour talking with a legislator over coffee, or for those WSRCC members who want to take it to the next level, inviting a legislator to tour your adult family home. Your level of commitment is completely up to YOU. The WSRCC will offer training as well as talking points to help you guide your conversation with your legislator. In cases where the legislator occupies a leadership position on a key committee, the WSRCC will set up and accompany YOU to your meeting and give you a campaign contribution to present to your legislator.

The WSRCC is known for its strong grassroots program. YOUR participation will make it even stronger. We look forward to helping YOU advocate on behalf of Adult Family Home Providers throughout Washington State.
