What adult family Home providers are REALLY saying about WFSE

 --- AND WHY IT MATTERS.

“The fact that Fircrest School has actually resumed admission of children with disabilities to the RHC tells me it is not just a rumor that a regressive move back toward institutionalization is being promoted by WFSE.  We, who have adult children and clients with developmental disabilities, and provide community based service supports to them, are alarmed and dismayed that the dollars that fund these services are being targeted by union organizers to secure their jobs.  I was under the mistaken impression that union organization was a choice not a political mandate forced upon
employers and employees by the legislature.”

Mary Lanier – Adult Family Home Provider – DDD advocate

The question is, who will represent our industry?

Washington State
Residential Care Council

  • 14 years experience in the Adult Family Home Industry

  •  Who’s only interest is ADULT FAMILY HOMES

  • With our Professional Bargaining Team including a highly regarded Law firm specializing in Collective Bargaining.

Or

A Union,
Washington Federation State Employees (WSFE)

-- who’s interest is supporting a national organization.

Has no experience in the adult family home industry

WFSE – This  same union;

Represents DSHS licensors

DSHS complaint investigators

DSHS case managers

State Institutional employees of Long Term Care

also

WFSE testified in favor of unionizing AFH caregivers

Sign-in Sheets for
HB2354

There has been some question related to the position of the WFSE and the unionization of caregivers in adult family homes. HB2354 Specifically allowed the unionization of the caregivers in adult family homes.

The above links are two of  the “sign in sheets” found in public record relating to this bill.  Notice clearly that the lead lobbyist for the WFSE – Dennis Eagle has signed in at two different hearing in favor of unionization of caregivers in the adult family homes.  These copies are only two pages of more than twenty pages of individuals who signed in at these legislative hearings.  As the sign in sheets suggest the AFHW apparently did not know the WFSE was in favor of this bill ---THIS is a great example of how the Washington Federation of State Employees Union is going to REPRESENT adult family homes?  Copies of these same sign in sheets are available through public record.
