To Providers & Elected Officers of WSRCC;

This week is the most important week in the history of the Adult Family Home industry.
There is not another agency or organization that understands our Adult Family Homes or the special relationship between our homes and clients. This week the opportunity that we have created (with the help of Divine intervention) is now available for each provider to become involved in the success of the Washington State Adult Family Home (AFH) Industry.

Only WSRCC is made of AFH providers we are not state employees – we are providers – mostly
interested in the highest quality of care we can provide our clients. When we see something that
we feel would be bad for our industry and our clients – Providers show up ---and start making a difference.

This week we need your help – we need you to protect your home and your clients.
We need you to vote for WSRCC and help others complete the ballot and send it in.

I am joining other Providers spending most of this next week making sure every Adult Family Home Provider knows how important it is to vote. We will make every effort to ensure that truthful information is in the hands of the providers as they decide whom to vote for --- the answers to most union related questions is found at www.wsrcc.org.

The fact that the Washington Federation of STATE Employees is in support of my staff being unionized(Public Record HB2354) is a huge concern for both my employees and myself. I consider this one issue as important to address as my confidence that “the union” would fumble the collective bargaining for the Medicaid Contract. “The Union” has not even been in the room over the last 14 years to understand the complexities of our industry and the necessary protections for our clients in a home setting. The WFSE representation of DSHS and the large state institutions are only the beginning of the conflicts they would have representing adult family homes.

Please contact all of the providers that you know and ask them to send in their official ballot to vote for WSRCC. The official ballot is from the Public Employees Regulatory Commission. This is the state agency that oversees all union activity in the state – it is their responsibility to ensure the “secret ballot” rules are being upheld and the election is held properly. As each provider follows the rules on the ballot it ensures the secrecy --- therefore if the rules are not followed correctly the ballot will not be counted.

I am constantly humbled by the number of people that have volunteered to help our organization make a huge difference in the Adult Family Home Industry. While everyone is very busy– I want to thank all the Providers that are helping us daily --- Please join us and volunteer for the next two weeks --- join the Professionals doing everything in our power to ensure the highest quality of care for our clients continues in Adult Family Homes…(without the presence of a “union”).
